Connecticut Tilapia Farming

Regulations

Tilapia farming in Connecticut falls under the joint administration of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and Department of Agriculture for the necessary permits and certificates.  There are limited specific regulations however Agriculture activities fall under regulations tailored for commercial or industrial operations.  Basically all withdrawals of water are reviewed and all discharges are reviewed and permitted.  Sources of fish stocks imported are permitted and reviewed.  Lastly any processing or sales require review by  Conusmer Protection, Public Health, And Agriculture.
